“MECs and HODs must fall,” ANCYL deputy president

ANC Youth League Deputy President Desmond Moela has called upon the newly returned Premier David Mabuza to deal harshly with MECs and top government officials who did as they pleased when the premier was off sick.

During his welcome gathering at the provincial government complex in Mbombela on Tuesday, Mabuza expressed that during his illness there was a time he could not speak or move.

“We are saying as the ANCYL that we want MECs who are not helping us with anything to fall. As we welcome you today, everywhere, even the legislature, we want to see change. There are people who are sitting, others are happy for blue lights, but are not assisting us with anything. Therefore, we now want to see change in some of the MECs,” said Moela.

He told Mabuza that some of the MECs had failed to implement promises the premier made during his State of the Province Address in February this year.

“Lots of people have talked lots of things but today we have the comrade back and we have not forgotten that we are coming from the provincial general conference. Comrade DD, let’s just remind you that one of the resolutions were that you [be re-elected] for a third term [as ANC provincial chairman]. If there is a person who is standing in his way, the moving train will crush him or her,” said Moela.

Outside the media briefing, Moela told African Eye News Service that a total of five MECs should be removed from their posts.
